I've got T5 lighting over the tank, one of the Coralife fixtures. So that actually ends up a bit more light than would appear just from the wattage total. I don't dose anything, and all I have in there is swords in pots of Flourite and mosses, plus a bunch of plants just floating around waiting for me to do something with them... lol I'm eventually going to put a mineralized soil substrate in this tank and 'scape it, but I've got 2 other tanks I need to finish off first.
IME brown algae usually occurs when there's too much indirect lighting on a tank- often coming in from a window or a nearby lamp; any chance that's happening with your tank?
Hi, this may seem random, but I was reading a thread and a post of yours said that you run 42 watts over your 46 bowfront, and I was wondering what plants you have in there and what do you dose? I have the same tank, with 60 watts and I cant seem to grow anything?? I have java ferns, crypts, and jungle vals. They do alright, but they are always covered in brown diatoms, and then those leaves die off?? Can you help me out?? Thanks
