    I know this is an *ancient* post, but trying to dimmer-mod a 24/7 is probably a nonstarter.

    Normal lighting dimmers work by turning the power on and off really fast, and achieve dimming by changing the percentage of "off" time. This works just fine if there's only LEDs or incadecent bulbs being powered by the dimmer.

    A 24/7 isn't just a bunch of LEDs. It contains a microcontroller and another dimmer circuit, neither of which are going to be terribly happy of the power is flicking on and off. I can't be 100% positive it wouldn't work, as it's always possible there's enough capacitors decoupling those circuits to keep them going, but I'd give it very narrow odds...

    If you really want to dim a 24/7, try putting some window screen on it.
