I've been doing fairly well... One more year of college... Got a Serrasalmus Sanchezi "Ruby Red" for my new 40g breeder. Just got some Manzanita stumps from Tom Barr to rescape with. Fighting off some black hair algae atm. Not too much...

I had a nasty BGA outbreak myself a few months ago. I managed to utterly destroy it with a new method that has been floating around here recently. Basically remove all fauna from your tanks and place them in buckets with tank water. Then turn off all of your filters but leave powerheads on. Then dump as much excel as you can spare into the tank for 30-45 minutes. After the time is up do a 90% WC and then turn your filters back on. Use one fish/shrimp to see how it reacts to the new water. If it isn't gasping then you are fine. If it is then do another 50% WC until it stops gasping. If you do this right then your BGA will turn a comical shade of pink (think those old school trolls we used to put on our pencils in grade school). Once it turns pink it will disappear completely in a few days!

If you breed them, I know alot of people who would love some captive breed salivators. :)

I had tried to create a pair of lorteti once, I had them both in seperate tanks and then moved them into a big tank for them both, she killed him. :( If I would ever try it again I would make sure to have TONS of cover. I had alot of plants, but there were some bare spots and that's where they would fight.
    Maybe she's just a bi-atch. :hihi:

hahah. I've read that salvitors are almost non excistant in the US, and then rare in the UK, so, IDK it could be hard to get one.
