Hi Hoppy.
I heard you were the person to talk to. I am new to Planted tanks and setting up a 10 gallon.
Here is what I bought. (everything is returnable)
Marineland 20gal filter
1 bag Flourite Black Sand
1bag Flourite (looks like bark chips? lol)
Fluval 24" Planted Aquarium LED
10 gal tank (obviously)
Would you say this is a pretty good start?
Would I get a good PAR value from that light so I can to a carpet?
What else am I missing?
Sorry to bother but this is a tank I have been itching to start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Names Tyler btw

I'm slowly starting to work on the PAR meters again. No estimate on when some will be available, but probably by the end of this week.

Any update on the par meter? Really interested in 1. Thanks

I'm working on a batch of 6 of those PAR meters, and experimenting with a different design, using the original photodiode in the lux meter. I've been pretty sick over the past 2 weeks, so I'm stalled for now, but I should have some PAR meters ready in a week or so. I added your name to my list of people wanting one, and will PM you when I have some to sell.

I have bought LEDs from DealExtreme about 4 times, as I recall, and they have always delivered what I ordered, in a reasonable time. I have no questions about their legitimacy at all.

I would never have even considered trying this until mistergreen posted on his DIY PAR meter. That got me to thinking about it. Then I discovered how cheap lux meters were, and that triggered my drive to convert them to PAR meters.
-
That's understandable. Hey, anything to get more people cheap PAR meters.
I would wager you never thought a little research on PAR would have led to all this, though, huh?

One more thing, I can't afford to buy large quantities of parts, so I can only make about 5 at a time, using the money I get from selling the last batch. I will be raising my price a little to make this part go more smoothly.
