A friend of mine told me about a place called "Aquatic Concepts" in Wetbrook.

The address is:

863 Main Street
Westbrook, ME

I haven't been there yet, but I'll report back once I get a chance.

aquatic concepts is hit or miss, though they are by far the best fw store i've seen in southern maine. very good african cichlid selection. sometimes they have random plants that you cant find in other stores. the last time i was there i got christmas moss and hygrophyla angustifolia.

Hey Turbo,

There is a place in Temple, NH that has terrific deals on fish and dry goods. I didn't see much in the way of plants there, but I figure the best plants are going to be available online here anyhow.

Please let me know if you want more information on this place in Temple and I will try to post it for you.

Default fish in maine

The best place I have found for fish and plants in this area is the Kennel Shop in Windham. The tanks are clean and the fish seem to be healthy. They do not have a huge selection but have a different selection every week and I have found fish and plants there that I have not been able to find anywhere else. This week, for new fish, I found wild blue tetras, some killifish and whiptailed cats. Their plant selection is the best I have found any where. If they do not have something I want they have been great about ordering it for me and the prices are the best I have seen. This week I got some African fern, which I have been looking for forever, nice plants for $4 each. The staff seem to know what they are talking about and have been very helpful.

Default aquatic concepts

I have only been to aquatic concepts once and I think I hit it on a bad day. They were cleaning out the tanks to do some remodeling I think. They did not have many plants that day but there was a good selection of fish. The staff was extremely helpful and answered a ton of questions for me on setting up my first planted tank.

I live in connecticut but I was recently in Maine for vacation for a week. In Portsmouth right off the highway there is a plaza with like barnes and noble in it, best buy and such. Well in there next to dick's was a place called pet quarters.
It seemed very nice, as soon as I walked in several employees greeted me within the first 5 minutes. Their tanks were very nice and clean and they had 2 people working over in that section. The fish seemed healthy and they had quite a bit to choose from. If I moved to Maine I would give this store a shot.
