School starts everywhere within a month, so we need to get those classrooms ready! To help push this along I will do a mini-mini Bill Gates thing: for the first TPT donation today I will match the first $25 of it. So you can make your $25 donation worth double and get 2 stems of a nice plant from Sewingalot, all at the same time. Now wait for the bell.......ding, ding, go!!!

Hoppy - I'd like to help but don't want to get on those doner's lists. Is there any other way to donate except through that link? I get so much junk mail right now it's mind boggling!

I don't really know the answer, but I'm sure the website does answer the question. I have donated many times there and still haven't received any junk mail as a result. They seem to be a very high quality, reputable group running that show, as I would expect considering that Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation works with them, matching the donations for many projects. If I get time later I will check to see if I can find an answer for you.

Paul, your donation was worth $20 because I just matched it. Somehow we have to get this project fully funded.

Wow, looks like a good day for donations.

The project is over 1/4 of the way there. $120 of $450 so far. Keep it up guys!

The teacher is also teaching the importance of checking water parameters (a lesson i recently learned the hard way). I just noticed that the test strips cost almost as much as the aquariums themselves.

Well, quite frankly, if you put guppies in a 1/2g tank, you'd better check your parameters daily.

Fair enough. I'm just thinking "betta in a bowl" mentality where I change 50% of the water a couple times a week and not check the water itself. The little guy still keeps blowing bubbles like he's gonna get some action, so I assume he's happy.

(I keep a 1 gallon betta tank at work with a couple artificial plants)

Edit: Guppies don't have a labyrinth organ so maybe its harder for them to tolerate less clean water?

We did good today! Now, how do we keep it going tomorrow. When I made my last donation a page came up where you could send emails to friends asking them to join the fun. Maybe that's something to try.
