Now I Can Get a Job!

I'm finally 14, and now I'm getting a job so that in two years I can get a car. I applied for a job at the grocery stores Publix and Winn Dixxie. I wonder if one of them will accept me.

Don't be in too big a hurry. It may seem like the most important thing in the world and a car can be a great liberator, but it is also a money sink. If you thought aquariums sucked up money, wait until you have to pay for gas, insurance, oil, tires, gas, brakes, gas, gas, gas, and more gas.

A question to ask yourself - Is the car so you can get to work to earn money to pay for the car and gas? Might a taxi once in a while cost less?

Taking public transportation is cheaper

But in all seriousness, cars are a huge money sinkhole. Gas, especially.

congrats, my friend works in publix and he says they make good money but they make you work a lot. and what part of florida do you live in?

At 12 I had 6-foot 3-tier setup with all FW tanks. At 16 I had a car and the tanks were soon gone. Many moons ago but I doubt things like that have changed much.

In Florida the law states you can be 14 , with certain restricitions during the school year .... YAY for you !!! I hope Publix hires you , they are a good company to work for
