cops...

so i was driving home from work, i was driving behind a cop, we were both on the inner(closest to the center island block thingy), i was doing around 75, the cop was slowly pulling ahead, so he is probly going close to 80, out of nowhere, 2 sets of bright lights came from behind me, one of them got really close, i thought it was going hit me from behind, anyways, just 2 crazy racers, doing at less 100+, they pass the cop, and the cop didn't even do anything... i remember i got a ticket few years back for going nine miles over the limit on a freeway...

He could have been off duty and simply going home. Many of the police around here actually take the vehicles home with them.

Completely understandable.

Cops in L.A. are the worst offenders. I'm on the road all day - everyday - and I gotta tell ya I see more cops breaking more laws than anyone. So much for setting a good example.

Yeah really...I've seen too many cops almost cause horrific traffic accidents in their haste to be satisfied with their increasingly haphazard practices and attitudes. I think they've forgotten their motto, "to protect and SERVE." Try reminding a cop that he's a public servant - or better yet that you pay his/her salary - and see how fast your taken in for 'obstruction.' Better wear your seatbelt on the way home tonight...

The way I would try to look at it is this:

Maybe he was reserving his time for actuall violent crimes or something more important than stopping someone for a traffic citation. If that is what he was actually doing, then I have all the respect in the world for his actions.

Makes it a little eaiser to deal with, at least for me...

Or maybe those speeding cars are unmarked police or the FBI

I have a question:

Are cops given an A-OKAY to break rules just because they're cops?

You cannot believe how many times I've seen a cop speeding, doing illegal moves, and do many things that they themselves CLAIM to look down upon/aka breaking the law.

I mean, I guess I understand them speeding to an accident but what if they didn't even have their siren on? They're just humans too and they're prone to accidents just as we are (noncop'ers). I don't see any real reason why a cop would speed by an elementary school at 50 mph. Trading one accident for another is not a good idea in my opinion.

Cops must obey laws unless their sirens on. But they dont.

In KS, a cop cant pull you over unless he is parked. Only state troopers can clock and pull you over while they are driving.
