Fish and Fishing

i tried to start a poll, but i have no idea how to, since saltwater fishing season is going to start soon for us in south texas, i was wondering how many people that keeps fish as pets that still goes to fishing or eat fish?
i am a sushi chef that goes to fishing on days off, keeping fish as pets and still enjoy a good fish fry... are there any like me?

I like to fish although I never catch anything...
There was a huge thread about fishing here a while back.

Good thing about living in Ontario is that it is home to many freshwater lakes.
I used to go fishing w/ family a lot, sometimes by the shore, sometimes by a boat. Nothing sophisticated, fishing rods, some live bait and a lot of patience.

We kept only the biggest legal catch, and released everything else. Also released if found w/ eggs. Then we would cook and eat. Sometimes the catch would be small, so we would just go for dinner at a restaurant.

My uncle lives in Victoria, BC, and he used to take us fishing by the Pacific close to inland. The difference between the ocean and freshwater lakes is significant. Saltwater has unimaginable variety of species, the smaller catches in saltwater is the size of larger catch in freshwater.

Lakes here are more limited to much fewer species. Also, depth of lakes in Ontario don't go very deep, whereas by the ocean, the fishing line can go sink forever w/o hitting bottom.

Also, I like sushi, keeping fish and fishing.

Here is a picture of my catch in 2002, when I was 13 or 14.

Yeah, I do pretty much every type of fishing except spear fishing. I fly fish for trout, and also fly fish for salmon in the rivers and on the beaches. You'd be surprised how quickly a fly hooked coho in the salt can peel off 80yds of backing.
I also do the bait thing, depending on the type of outing. If i'm just with some friends at the local pond or something, bait and float work wonders. If im heading out camping or something, I'll usually pack the fly rod, tube, waders, fins and that whole shabang.
I'm very lucky in my location, living on the coast of BC.

I like fishing, but not cleaning, so I either give them away or throw them back. Nothing beats a day on the water with family.

We like to go tuna fishing, dolphin and whatever else bites out in the deep blue.
As for fresh or brackish we go to mosquito lagoon for reds and trout. Bass fishing we dont compromise, we go back down to Panama in Gatun lake for giant Peacock. Been fishing my whole life.

I am an avid fly fisherman. I tie my own flies and fish a few times a week.

I go a couple times a year, plus whenever I feel like screwing around in the summer. Mostly trout, bass, sunnies, the very occasional pike. I'd like to go saltwater fishing more, but don't have the resources and can't get enough my lazy friends to get a boat for the day.
