I caught a 13" flounder this past weekend. It had been several months since I was able to go before then, but I try to go as often as I can. Every weekend would be ideal. I've got a camping/fishing trip to Granger Lake scheduled for the middle of March. I hope to be able to catch a whole mess of crappie and white bass. Can you say fish fry?

I also keep two aquariums, a 55 gallon with an adult male Jack Dempsey, five giant danios and a bristlenose pleco; and a 6.6 gallon with a male betta and a couple otos. I don't see it as contradictory at all. Each fish has its own place. Some are ornamental, some are great eating and others are just fun to catch. Consequently, some fall into two categories.

man thats a nice rainbow... my biggest one was only a 10inch, most of the ponds here that gets stocked with rainbow don't really get that big, most just dies in a week or two, or over fished... i've seen people that live across the street from the pond.. or right next to it, catches their limit.. runs home and comes back out again, and they do it over and over again.. so sad...

I love to go fishing. I own a boat and live about a mile and a half away from a fairly large lake here in Georgia (Lake Alatoona). I don't get to go saltwater fishing as much as I would like, but I take what I can get.

This is a pic of a fish I caught in a small pond in a subdivision a couple of years ago. I only have 1 and 1/2 chins now.

Grew up saltwater fishing, and now started more freshwater, and fly fishing. I mostly miss Salmon fishing. Great excitement when you hook one of those.
Here is a pic from a Florida trip with a nice Mahi

My favorite freshwater fishing is for hybrids (cross between a striper and a white bass). I went out one time with my father and wife, and we wound up catching about 230 of these in about 5 hours.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I am a catch and release kind of guy. I don't like eating fish (Other than Captian D's and shellfish), so I don't keep any of the ones that I catch. I also tend not to use live bait and I file the barbs down on some of the lures that I use to minimize harm to the fish. When I go hybrid fishing, I use barbless hooks. It helps to not damage their mouths and it is much easier and quicker to get the fish off the hook.

Thats a nice mess there fsh. I bought a fly rod just for hybrids, but I have not used it yet. I am a little hesitant to start whiping a fly rod around on my boat while there are other people on it. It gets so chaotic when a school comes up, I have a feeling I would wind up hooking someone or myself.

Wouldn't be the first time. I had to have a hook removed at the ER several years back. I didn't know the human skin could stretch that much. LOL
