i was wondering, since the 36 watt and 55 watt ahsupply kit are priced the same, it says the only difference is the reflector

does this mean that the ballasts are the same, so i can get the 55 watt kit, put 36 watt bulbs into it and have it run at 36 watts, giving me the ability to run less light right now, but more light later if i wanted to by sticking a 55 watt bulb into it...

as for now, putting a 55 watt would be too much light, but i want the option to bring it up to 55 watt later when i can go pressurized

im wondering is that possible??

also..do you guys think this is ok...i have a 50 gallon tank, so im planning on adding about 2 36 watt pc fixtures in the front of the tank, and then behind that i have a t12 shoplight, so i have a total of 152 watts, my reasoning in that foreground plants require more intense lighting and that the shoplight should be enough for the plants in the back, wondering if that is ok

yea..thanks! haha im new to this its nice to have a place where i can ask quesstions

I like these kinds of questions, logic and everything. Yes, the 55 will run the 36 just fine until you want to up the wattage.

Sounds like a plan.

A shop light puts out enough light to grow a lot of things, but for a really nice forground the extra light is hard to beat.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".
