Planted Tank Obsessed
|
Enough watts but Penetration???
So I just built a 26 Bow. I have a 2x24 Nova Extreme T5HO and a 2x14 Coralife T5 on it. Thought I have plenty of light but just started thinking about it and how much light do I really gain from the second fixture. All of it at the upper half of the tank but what about the lower half? Problem is it is rather tall for the gallons - 21". The two fixtures give me almost 3 wpg but is that really misleading with the debth of the tank. Most would consider 3wpg high light but is it really? If it was 2x38 for the total that would be different than 76 watts from the 4 bulbs. The T5HO will help. The tank has only been running for about a week and a half so I don't have a lot to go on yet. The real tell will be the glosso that I planted about 5 days ago. For now all the plants are lookin good. Just sort of talking out loud but any comments?

The T5HO should be fine at penetration, so maybe using that fixture up front and the coralife in the rear would be the best layout
