That's a hell of a lot of light over a 120. You could keep anything.

I have 4 X 96 over 125 (AHSupply reflectors make a difference), and it's a lot of light. However, the only carpet plants I've tried marselia.
Question, do you have a standard 4' X 2' footprint? Are you going for a brighter center?

I'm gonna say no, you can't keep carpet plants. I have a 120g, and I am running two 4x65 wt CF lights sets, and can't grow anything on the foreground other than crypts. The 2ft height really creates the problem.

If you just say 120, most folks assume you're talking about a standard 120, which is 48 x 24 x 24. You can also find a 120 long which is 60 x 18 x 26.

72 x 18 x 22 is a 125. 72 x 18 x 24 is a 135. And 72 x 18 x 28 is a 150. Four 96 Watt PCs over any of these is just about ideal.

All of these are nominal sizes. The real volume is typically a little less but sometimes a little more than the nominal size.

Pray tell me. Is it the top 3" or the bottom 3" of water that create the problem?????

People with the standard 55 and 75 gallon tanks only have 3" less water than you have. And we have no problem growing plants.

Seriously, you are running 520 watts over a 120g and can't grow a foreground?

I know they are Coralife fixtures...maybe not the AHSupply match, but they should be adequate. I would guess it is something other than light levels or the height.
