Distance bet. bulbs & water surface?

Gday,

I am about to install 5 or 6 x 55w (still undecided how many watts required) PC bulbs with AH Supply reflectors over my 120g tank (4x2x2).

What height should I install the bulbs above the water surface? BTW I have an open top tank.

Mine are about 4" from the surface.

You really should have a glass barrier between the water and the bulbs. those kits aren't designed to be operated over an open surface, as the humidity can cause problems.
