Hello all.
would you say that the above light is good for my 29. I'm growing hyrgrophilia, water sprite, penny wort, aponegton, Sword, crypt. It's very bright and makes the tank look absolutely stunning. I'm just not light knowledgable when it comes to compacts. I really like this light. |

for those plants 2wpg should be ok as long as your plants are getting ferts they should do ok less than 2wpg but none of these are really high light plants

If you haven't bought the light yet here is what I would recommend:
buy a fixture with 2 bulbs and only use 1 of them. That way if somewhere down the line you decide you want some high-light plants you won't be upset that you have to go and buy a whole nex fixture. As Marcus said though, 55w on a 29 is good enough to grow the low-light plants you mentioned.

yeah, and FYI I run 2 55w over my 29gallon. the tanks still fairly young (almost 3 months old) so I'm dealing with minor algae blooms, but for the most part the plants grow like crazy.
I need to get the fertilizing thing figured out...in terms of which macros and how much to dose. anyhow, I concur, get a dual output ballast, and start with one bulb, then progress to a second when you need it.
