are the 10k power compact bulbs ok for plants? I have 2 of these and 2 6700k bulbs in a 4 ft power compact light.

They're not optimal but they're fairly decent. If your total light output is under 2.5 wpg, then I think you'd notice a significant improvement by switching to some plant growth bulbs.

The lights are 260 watts they will be on a 75gal so it would be about 3.5 watts per gallon. Will the 10k's be too blue and grow a lot of algae?

I use 10Ks with no problems, that its ALL 10ks, no 50/50 actinic. Its a very green tint compared to the original 9325k's in my hood.

I'll probably go back to them when I need to replace again. I got about the same growth rates from both, but the color of the 9325's are more appealing to me.

I got the compact striplight with 2 10k's and 2 actinic. I am replacing the actinics with 6700k bulbs, so I will have 2 10k's and 2 6700k bulbs.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict for sure whether or not the 10,000K bulbs will be algae-growing machines. Time will tell. The problem is that not all bulbs are the same, even with the same color temperature rating. One of the best Power Compact bulbs has a color temp of 9325K and is no where near as blue as most 6700K daylight bulbs.

Im will be running a single 65W 6700K PC for a 20G

but Im wondering if a single 55W 9325K PC is suitable for my planted tank( as in light spectrum)?

20G will be CO2 regulated to 6.5~7PHish and fully planted with light-demanding plants.

I think the 9325K GE bulb, driven at 65watts, will be plenty of light for your 20g tank and light-demanding plants.

I've never used one, but reports indicate that it is adequate as a standalone plant growth bulb. I'm going to order some from 1000bulbs.com so we'll know soon enough!
