I set up a new planted 10 gallon tank about a week ago. Recently I started to see algae growing on the rocks and on the glass. I also see dark brown spots forming in the sand. I have had trouble keeping shrimp alive and am trying to sort out my cause. One possibility might be disturbing substrate releases something toxic. So how do you thin out excess plants without causing problems? If I don’t stay on top of my crypts they’ll take over the aquarium.8 replies 453 views
