@Jon - Looks good. Is there a way to push the letters a little down? partially behind the skyline?

@Pat - Why not try the full name for the domain? Or a extension of .club instead of .net/.org?

@All - Apart from a club website, I think FB presence will keep up more connected with fellow clubs and hobbyists. Almost all key names from PT, APC or whatever you can think of are now on FB and pretty active. As such I am putting up a club page on FB. We can cross link from our website and post some announcement type things over there thru the app integrations FB provides. To begin with I am adding a couple of polls over there on the logo options we have and the ideas for future meets. I'll confirm later today after that is setup.
EDIT: On second thoughts, I'll scrap the FB idea of polls. Too open!

i voted PACC cuz i liked the sound of referencing the group as "The PACC" (even though i wasn't a fan of the green bay packers winning the superbowl).

personally I really dislike fb policies on a lot of things from a intellectual property stand point. So while I have one mainly to stay in contact with family and friends i tend to stay away from relying on it.

personally for domain name i really like http://www.chicagoplantedtank.org. Domains need to be easy to remember and simple to enter.

Fee's are minimal. Registering the domain name is all that really needs to be done. Right now it's about $12 a year and I am more than willing to donate/cover that. My web hosting space will cover most of our needs for a quite a while, unless we somehow get huge and start having lots of traffic.

I really see our web presence as a vehicle to connect more than intellectual property. That I think is best maintained in web forums like these than in fb/twitter or any local community sites. From a club standpoint what is important are vehicles to connect and communicate/share in a group fashion, both locally and outside. While a dedicated website only does the local connection part, a common/popular ground is required for communicating across. How often would you find anybody browsing for local information of another state's local club? So, the FB page is more of a connection point to other groups and only on a interest basis.

As far as our web page name is concerned, I personally do not have any preference, what ever best reflects our club name. After all this is not like a yahoo/google site, almost 99% of the first time traffic will be directed by us members or thru other forums. However I would try to use the word "club" or "group" or something in the name.

This 1000 character limit really sucks! Just to finish off my thoughts that I had to divide between 2 post...

...I will maintain and update our page on FB, but more from a out facing standpoint. That's why I backed out of the internal polling idea from there. I will start with posting on our last event details there and my intention is to connect to some of the more popular individuals/groups out there and hopefully get some ideas/feedback that can be useful to us.

Ok since we have settled on PACC per the Facebook page i was thinking about registering http://www.PACChicago.org. It is available.

This one is a modification of Jons with the new name and the letters in a carpet of HC. I also like it because of its dimensions better. A bit easier to design around website wise.

yeah....this looks good, we can always evolve our logo with time.
