Are there any other planted aquarium or tropical fish hobbiest in this forum that live Atlanta GA? I live in the Gwinnett area and am wondering if anyone has any tips or pet locations that may not be well known. I am also looking to buy Discus from a local breeder.

One of the largest Discus Breeders in the South is Ken Davis. He lives in Statham GA.
Here is his website: http://fishfarm.home.mindspring.com/

Thanks. Stateham is about 1 hour away, but I have a friend and co-worker whom lives there. Pretty amazing considering that Stateham is only about 2 miles in diameter. Thanks for the advice.
Anymore info would be greatly appreciated. I don't know why we are so short on good aquatic pet stores here in Atlanta. Hopefully things will start to change once the Georgia Aquarium opens in November.

I am close to statham. My wife actaully taught at their elemenatry school. One of my favorite fish stores is the petland in alpharetta the corner of statebridge and 141.
there used to be a great store in athens called the pet store, bad management resulted in them closing. I live in auburn ga, and work in alpharetta, am interested in meeting and swapping plants btw |

I have never been to Athens, but I heard that there is a store on main street which is suppose to be really good. The owners also own a much smaller store here in Loganville. Any idea of which store it is? I can't recall the name, but I do believe that it actually had "Athens" in the store name.

Athens Aquarium Supply, Its behind the checkers near beachwood. Great store, with good prices, and the tank in the middle of the store is worth seeing just for the heck of it. I think its around 10 foot tall. There are alot of salt water stuff, but there is an equal amount of freshwater

"The Fish Store and More", in Buckhead, is the best run shop I've seen in the year and a half I've been back in town. Pricey, but very good. Their forte is marine, but they do better with planted tanks, at this time, than any other shop in the metro area.
There was a Pet Land shop in Duluth, 5900-B State Bridge Rd., that had a great selection of plants about a year ago, but I think they had a labor/management turnover. I've not been out there, but I think things may not be so good anymore. |

Hi everyone!
I'm attending college at Emory, coming all the way from California. Are there any good stores around the Emory area? I think Buckhead is relatively close. It sucks because freshmen aren't allowed to have cars around here, and I've been thinking of setting up a tank in my dorm room (2.5 gallon one probably) Thanks! |
