Starting a 10gallon shrimp tank with neons
I have decided to upgrade my 5 gallon hex shrimp tank. I am going to get a standard 10 gallon and use all the stuff from the 5 gallon tank. The only difference being I will add at least 3litres of ADA aquasoil to the ecocomplete thats presently in the 5gallon.
The tank is planted with HC, Wisteria, Riccia, and soon to be Pellia. The tank has only been running with plants for a month so nothing is grown in too well. The HC is still in single strands so they will be easy to move to the new tank. I have DIY Hagen co2 system and a 28watt daylight bulb in the 5gal, but the 10g will prob have room for two lights. Should I add the other 28watt bulb to make 56watts for 10gallons or is that a little overkill?
Right now the 5g has 4 RCS and 3 Amanos which will be making the move to the 10g. I really want to get some Crystal red/blacks once the aquasoil pulls the pH down. I'll prob add 10 CRS so there will be 17 shrimp combined.
Would it be alright to add like 8 neon tetra to the 10gallon? I plan on the RCS breeding and possibly the CRS, would the neons eat the babies or do they leave them alone as long as they are hidden? I've heard that neons are not that aggressive of eaters but anyone with experience with them and shrimp let me know how its worked for you.
