I believe I will beat everybody. I was drawing designs of aquascapes when I was in 6-th grade - that was 1981. Rocks, wood, crypts, taller plants, moss... the works!

Of course, today there are better aquascapers than me. It seems that it's true - if you lock up a donkey and a piano in a barn for 20 years you don't necessarily end up with a piano playing donkey, haha.

So! How long have you been into planted tanks/aquascaping?

Almost 39yrs, although I didn't jump right into planted tanks.
I received my first tank as a gift when I was 6.

I had my first tank, a 10 gallon with guppies and vals, making it a planted tank, back in 1954 or maybe 53. That makes me a 54 year "expert", but that mainly just proves Niko's statement, because I still can't "play the piano" very well.

Planted tanks for about 6 months, the total time I've had aquariums that would be a lot longer something in the neighborhood of six months and two days!

since i was six i had my first non planted aquarium, then stopped for about 6 years from over feeding that inevitably killed the fish (who trusts a six year old...well...besides my parents). then set up a small eclipse 12 tank non planted, and then i joined this site in january and got my first tank in march and planted it, then in june or july, got my 30c.

Fishtanks since I was about five or six. That was about 26 years ago! Had to give it all up in grad school for over six years, and I got back to fishkeeping with my first planted tank about a month and a half ago.

So, both old hand and total neophyte.

I kept Aquaria for about 4 Years 29 gallon semi planted tank...Various other tanks for babies, and hatching brine shrimp... Took about 7 years off from aquaria joined back up in october this year, now I have a 65g a 29g a 10g and a 3.5g.... The 65g is my planted dream tank..

I remember having fish in my room and helping my dad clean the tanks as far back as when I was 3. So that puts me at 20 years. Planted tanks only about a year or so.
