Fish since I was 7. From there I was on and off for 12 years. Since I was 14 I started keeping plants with poor results, elodeas, vals, cheap ludwigias and hornwort.

When I was 19 and had more money I decided to get a more serious tank, 45 gallons, and I wanted very serious biological filtration, and through searches, I discovered there were such things as planted tanks. Been keeping them the last 4-5 years: some wrecks, some moving, some experimental setups, some nanos lastly. Almost no fish now.

Think of all the money we've spent...

Been keeping fish for more than 25 years, planted tanks for about 5 years, and playing with "aquascaping" for one year.

I got my first tank for my 7th birthday. Went back to the local pond and got sand and plants and fish and crays and anything else that looked alive. Kept that going for almost 6 years. That was when I got my first tropical tank and I've had a mix of local and tropical ever since. I just committed to my 21st tank which I will pick up in 2 weeks.
I turned 7 just shy of 41 years ago.

almost a year, but im kind of an easily obsessed person, so ALL of my earnings in that year have gone into my tanks.

haha, its an art. most definitely an art. (my parents could probably argue that point though.... :P)

25 + years, planted off and on during that time. Still learning and always learning something new everyday when it comes to planted tanks.

Things have changed that much!

I've loved fishes and plants since I was around 7. That was ages ago.

one year almost to the day with planted tanks. But I've kept fish for a long time before with a 5+ year break until last year.

Oh geeez.... I never thought of myself as an old fart.... 45years. One of my first Metaframe 10 gallons had Anachris in it. When I was six I was given a whole line of those Metaframe tanks - a 2.5, 5, 10, 15 and eventually saved up my allowance for a 20.

I loved those tanks..............

lol...Yep, cool tanks and cool memories. I remember having a 5g as a kid that had one big rock in it from a local stream that was covered with ungodly long hair algae that I thought was just the coolest thing.

I had been taking interest in my mother's aquarium since I was seven, had my first aquarium when I was 10, since then I always had at least one aquarium, planted, my style.

I hope to own 50 aquariums by 2010, I will be 60 years old then.
