I have a 120z glass container that I'm trying to use as a micro aquaria - a wee sprig of glosso. and a tiny snail.

there is no love. i'm almost 100% convinced that the people who make these things actually just set them up for the shot, then disassemble them. i've tried 100x100x100x99999 ways to get some kind of cycle, momentum or equilibrium rolling ... it's just too small a volume of water

someone needs to invent a micro filter. (i have been trying to think of ways)

I've tried it with sum water sprite, and java moss, a snail, and sum guppy fry. It worked for about a week, before I decided to let the guppys go back to there real home. Haven't tried since...

You could make a micro-sump using airline tubing for the gravity feed and the water return into another vessel like a 2 Gallon Ice cream pail.

For the pump to return water you could use a replacement water pump for desktop fountains. Pet stores may be able to sell you a small water pump normally used in terrariums for moving small amounts of water.

I can imagine easily using an old air powered submesible filter as a the prefilter box containing some filter floss to keep crud from getting into the main vessel of water.

hm, interesting. using a 2 gallon pail would also double the water volume, making the water chemistry more stabie.

Use a 5 gallon pail and daisy-chain a few small display tanks and it could get real interesting! (engineering background kicking in)

I want to get a bunch of little ones under a large fluorescent tube and daisy chain the water systems together.

Or.... since we're brainstorming here... I'm picturing a shelf on a wall, about 1 foot by 3 feet long. Five or Six of these large jars and glass vases on the shelf with assorted micro planted aquaria - a track light on the ceiling above with a small directional halogen light aimed at each container. You'd get the spotlight effect and wouldn't have a large utilitarian flourescent pendance fixture to detract from your micro aquaria display.
hmmmm, I need to run this by the head of the Interior Design firm (my wife).
