Hc trimming height

What is the best height to try to keep hc at?

I've been lax on aggressively keeping the height down on my hc and started noticing yellowing leaves on the bottom of it where it meets the glass. After trimming it back some I noticed that in many areas the hc was no longer in contact with the substrate. I spent 3 hours this morning trimming it all back to bare roots/runners, and am going to let it grow in again.

It took roughly 2 months to grow in half the tank(20 gallon) using 65w of cf's 10k/6k. I've heard that with higher light hc tends to stay lower and spread more. I have another 65w bulb in the hood that I never turn on. Would it be a good idea for me to try that, maybe on a shorter duration than the main bulb(which is on 7 hours a day)?

Also I am ei dosing, and have pressurized co2 with drop checker consistently green, and see pearling roughly 4 hours into the lights being on.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks is advance.

Yes, run the main bulb seven hours a day with the second bulb at 2-3 hours a day. Try two then bump it up if you see fit.

Since you're doing EI dosing and have pressurized CO2, I see no problem with your plan.

I would have your CO2 come on maybe an hour or so before lights go on, too, if you're not already doing that.
