Will this cause a problem?

I have a one liter bottle and 2 liter bottle of DIY CO2. I have hooked up the 1 liter and 2 liter to a T valve that will run into my venturi in the tank. Will the gases go straight to the venturi or will they cause some kind of backup? I have a check valve on both... one that came with the 1 liter kit and the 2 liter DIY CO2 has one i bought from petsmart. Should I connect another T valve before the venturi with a screw air cap... so I can unscrew the cap once a night or however often I need to? I don't know how to tell if I need to either. Alright, hopefully I will get some good answers.

Also, I heard that we should not put a DIY CO2 on a timer because a 2L bottle could explode. Is this true? The venturi is on a timer and I have it turn off an hour after my lights go off and then it comes on 4 hours later and runs for a few hours before the lights turn back on. Is this smart to do, or can I leave 3L of CO2 going at night. I don't want to kill my fish so just want to know.

And where can I get wine yeast? I have active dry yeast, which I hear does not last as long.

Not sure if there is enough pressure in a DIY CO2 to work with a venturi. I think this may not be a wise setup. I could be wrong though. We need some Venturi experts in here.

Bump this to the top!

1) Using a timer with your venturi pump will be fine. Have it turn off when the lights do, you don't need it on after the lights are out. I would have it go off when the pump is off.
2) You might want to use 2x 2L bottles, I'm not sure. Somewhat related to what Glenn said, venturis have a "suction" to the venturi line. If this suction is great enough, it could potentially (not likely) suck some of the DIY mix into the tank. However, let us know what venturi design you have (pictures) and we'll be better able to help you.
3) I use champagne yeast. This is the first hit I found on Google. I got mine on eBay for cheaper. Look for 10-packs. http://www.fermentationtrap.com/cb4904.html

I would think the CO2 would act like water where when water rushes at each other they will collide and go out the open passageway. That is my thinking on connecting up the two bottles. I can do two 2L bottles of CO2 but then this kit I bought would have been a waste of money... which that happens right? Well this is the link to the kit I bought... it is a Red Sea turbo CO2 kit... it came with the venturi. Please take a look, and let me know if this will be fine. I will have a check valve on both CO2 containers and I was thinking about doing a drip bottle for the 2L bottle. Thanks.

CO2 won't be "rushing" at each other. I myself have connected two bottles using a Tee. It should be fine.

If you add a gas separator bottle for the DIY CO2 setup, I see no problem in connecting the entire setup to the provided venturi pump.

I have the Red Sea Turbo CO2 kit...but I found that the pump in the kit wasn't terribly strong enough to draw out much CO2 so I threw on a slightly bigger venturi and that helped, I did have mine set to a timer so when the lights went off the CO2 went off aswell, any excess CO2 just bubbled to the surface when the pump was off...

Do you know what venturi you bought? I have a 20 gallon and if I should get a new venturi, I want to make sure I get a good one. Thanks.
