How soon will fry begin nipping at smaller fry?
I have a 3g Picotope with 30 or so guppy fry and some are growing faster than others. The largest fish at this point is 1/2 an inch and is just beginning to show signs of tail fin growth. The smallest are still 1/8 of an inch or so. How soon should I begin to move the larger ones out?
Thanks! |

with guppys i keep my fry together, and the males dont nip, in my case, until the females are ready to be mated with; since there is no point.

In a 3gal tank I hope you're doing daily 50% PWC?
The more room you can give the fry and the more feedings and water changes, the faster they will grow. If you have another tank to divide them into, I'd go ahead and do it. With that much difference in their sizes already it's likely that the larger guppies are outcompeting the smaller for food; which will just stunt their growth even further.
