ADA stand question
I am about to hire someone to help me build a stand for the P90 ADA tank. Does anyone who has built one have any tips/suggestions that I wouldn't get or see form the DYI info out there?
Also what is the best LINK for "blueprints" to make a this stand? Thanks |

Hey rick4him, this is an "excellent diy blueprint" of the stand you are looking to build.
I emailed Jason about a question I had regarding the stand and he was very helpful. |

Cool - I talked to someone that said I should wait until I get the tank and measure the tank with the same tape measure that is going to be used to make the stand to make sure it is exact.
Do you suggest this? Rather then telling him to make it 36x17.7x27.55 (which is the measurements in inches?) - sometimes cm to inches don't always come out right, ya know? |

Well you can just use the measurements right off the website that you are buying the tank from, or call (depending where you got it from Jeff or George/Steve). You really don't have to wait for the tank to arrive, actually you will be saving time by having the stand built while the tank is being shipped to you.
The stand can be built with or without an overlap of 1/16 or so. I don’t think it will be the end of the world for you. However I do recommend using neoprene between the tank and the stand for several reasons, one of which is that it helps keep the tank level and another reason is for the dampening of vibration that can come from filters, pumps and such. Again, both Jeff and George sells it. |

I talked with Jeff today and he is the one that said don't go buy the measurements on his website because you want it to look clean and not off.
He said he has seen people make these stand a thousand times, and if they do it ahead of time they are always a little off because of the measurements - which is sad for me, because I would rather have my stand built so the tank will be ready to be put on it... So you think I'll be ok? Also I was planning on buying one of those ADA mats to go between the tank and the stand - will that work ok? |

Ok cool - I was planning on getting that..
When you say the stand can be built with an overlap of 1/16 of an inch what does that mean? I don't do this sort of thing - so I 'm not sure what you meant? Are you saying it will still look nice even if it is not PERFECTLY flush? Also are you saying at the very worst if I went by the measurements posted above it would only be off by 1/16 of an inch? |

I meant that if you were off by a bit it won’t look horrible. You can just flush the front of the tank with the front of the stand but why go through the trouble? Just wait for the tank to arrive and take the measurements off of the tank.
I know you must be anxious to get started but a little patience goes a long way. Rick don't forget to start a journal of your progress with your "new" tank. I know the anticipation is killing you. |

All I can advise is for you to look at a lot of photos of tanks and read, read and read some more. Educate yourself as much as possible about what you would like to do with your tank, in other words any style that appeals to you gather information about the tank and research the materials, plants and technique used to achieve it.
Rick, I have a few links that are very interesting for you to look at. I’m sure they will peak your interest. I should be home in an hour or so. I’ll post them when I get home. Sorry for the wait. I have the links bookmarked so It won’t take long at all once I get home. |

I was about to leave as these came to mind. I'm sure these will keep you busy for a while.
Creative Aquascape Union Here is the link that will help you out tremendously. It's a step by step guide of how the tank was set up. Some of the tanks are done rather well. http://www.cau-aqua.net/index.php?op...id=7&Itemid=38 AGA http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2007.cgi Akwarium.org Click on the photos to your right. http://www.akwarium.org/ Hope these help you out. There are a lot more links but I just don't remember them. I'm sure others will chime in. |

Is there a reason you can't have the stand built in centimeters? When I measured my 90-P it was pretty well exactly 90 cm x 45 cm.
