Does anybody do this. I just re-did my 20h into an Asian themed tank and am adding Florish excel. Previously, I had the hagen DIY thing on it. Would it be ok to use both excel and the Hagen Co2 or is this overkill. I had really good results on this tank for over a year with the Hagen system. Moved 95% of the plants from this tank to the 90Gal., left the crypts, rotala, and ambulia.

How much light do you have on it?
Why not just use the co2. But sure, you could use both.

if the Hagen kit is getting your CO2 levels to 20-25ppm, I don't think the Excel would provide any real benefit.

If I was doing DIY Co2 I would dose Excel if I had the option. DIY is not the most reliable. I have a wet/dry filter and dose Excel to help with the pressurized Co2. But its a small tank, 4mL 2-3 times a week goes a long way.

I currently have 60w NO on this tank. I was using the hagen DIY on it and had the Excel from a planted 3 gal. Nano. I dosed the recommended Excel and didnt want to kill my new fish. I have found that although the Co2/ph varies using the hagen natural plant system, it doesnt fluctuate enought to cause problems. I have let the the thing run out before and does not send the PH rocketing or anything.
