Algae Grower
|
Hi all,
I can’t decide whether to take white or black quartz for my next planted aquarium. First – I choose quartz because it is totally inert and because too many are recommending it!! But my major concern is regarding the color - The advantage of white quartz over black quartz is that it reflect the light to the bottom of the plants. The advantage of the back quartz over white quartz is that it won’t reflect too much light on the cardinal tetra and discus. But I am afraid of other disadvantages of the black quartz… - for example – maybe the black is because of some substances that could change the water chemistry??? For example I am afraid of all the pink/red gravels because they may contain iron or manganese which I don’t want to expose to the water column in order to control algae. So - is there anything wrong with Black Quartz? Aviel. |
