Default Nolan's in Lakeland

I came across a hard to find plant there - Lileaopsis Mauritis. I know I just butchered that spelling..lol..but it's the "narrow leaf micro sword." Grows well under less light than the regular micro sword. All their plants are in pots, which I think is convenient. All are $4.99. Kinda high for some, good for others.

There were some good prices on some fish, too. Cardinals are $2.99. They have Discus for a reall good price, too, but I don't remember the exact number. They have a really good variety of fish, too. Only problem is that they have some employees that have no fish experience, so please do your own research before buying!!!

They also have saltwater stuff, TONS of aquariums, big ol' Koi - which reminds me - they have GINORMOUS Koi for $60. They also had some huge Oscars for $30.

Cool. I went down there last year to look at stands/canopies. I did not buy one but it was an interesting store. I have heard there is an awesome shop in tampa.

If you ever get over to Tampa again and want to see some saltwater stuff, you'll have to check out Fish And Other Ithchy Stuff (FAOIS). They are strictly saltwater and a no BS shop. Won't sell you stuff you don't need, etc. Brutally honest owner.

Which one is Nolan's? Is it on Memorial Hwy on the east side of town?

It's on 92. If you take 98/Florida to 92 and go east, it's just a few miles on the left hand side. You pass the lake, some industrial stuff, and then it's right there on the left...yellow building. Doesn't look like much from the outside.

That's the one I was thinking of. I haven't been there in over a year. Call me weird, but I like to check out all the local shops anytime I'm in another city if I have enough time.

I know John personally, he's a good guy. I know some people do not care for the way he does things, but I did/they do the same thing at SITC here. Alot of people get put off when you tell them no, I won't sell you that..your tank is too small, not mature enough etc. They want what they want without care for the animals.

I'd rather shop where the person tells me the TRUTH! Not the guy that lets a family walk out the door with a 10g tank kit and an Oscar.

Yeah me too. I was in a big box store recently for crickets for my gecko and watched an older couple talking to the mgr about a fish the store had in a nano cube for sale. It was a mandarin dragonet. I listened as the couple told the mgr how they wanted to take out the freshwater in their tank when they got home, add the sw they purchased there, and the mandarin. My heart sunk. But,as they left I caught them and told them the truth. How the fish needed an established tank with live food, or it would die. I stuffed the card to my friend's sw shop in his top pocket. I found out a little later they drove right there. That is one fish that is so inexpensive, so beautiful, and so many have to die at the hands of inexperienced or non-caring people.

There is only one pic i don't know what the red X's are. Also does anyone else think LFSs should know where they got their fish from and where they were collected from? Westside aquarium in Tampa is run by a guy named Paul and he knows exactly were his fish came from and where they were colllected. Everyone else including Nolan's was just like "seagrest or 4D." and "No we have no way of knowing where our fish are from."
