You can get potassium permanganate at the water softening section at Sears.

Anybody going for a plant hunting?

When my American cousin went to Florida (Collier County) this spring I asked her to keep an eye for some plants. I compiled a wish list for her using the Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants (where you can seach plants by county, for example).

In addition to the above mentioned plants, I was willing to try out these:
Yellow Water-Lily (Nymphaea mexicana)
Big Water-Clover (Marsilea macropoda)
Largeleaf Pennywort (Hydrocotyle bonariensis)
Water Pennywort (H. ranunculoides)
Marsh Pennywort (H. umbellata)
Florida Water Cress (Rorippa floridana)
Sagittaria isoetiformis
Gladiate Mudmidget Wolfiella gladiata -floating plant

and of course, any swords she might find...

Well, she - as a non-aquarist - found me Marsh Pennywort. It didn't survive the shipping to Finland... but she'll bring me some when she comes over next time. She also saw Duck Potato (Sagittaria lanceolata) which I thought was quite good spotting - it does look like a swordplant!

Now I'm hoping that one of you Floridans could go scouting for Manatee Mudflower (Micranthemum glomeratum, pics of M. umbrosum with a pic of herbarium specimen & line drawing of M. glomeratum) or that Florida Water Cress (pics) for me... Anybody interested?
