Cherry Shrimp in SoCal @ Strictly Fish ...

in Lakewood, CA (off the 605).

I ordered these last week. I picked up 10 of them today, including one ripe, egg-laden female. Sorry, she was the only one w/eggs.

There are about 14 left--ask Terry about them & tell him John sent you. He'll then sell 5 for $15.

These things are so cool. Very active.

Here's the pregnant female, which has been grazing on the same algae-laden rock all evening:

Looks like at least 2 of the others are females with developing eggs (due to yellowing behind the head area). Pretty soon I'll have some extras (knock on wood).

Glad you finally found some at such a good price. I hope your tank becomes as infested as mine.

If I'm able to breed them, I'm sure I'll need to!

What do you mean able? At first I doubted some of the people here who said these guys breed like flies. I just noticed another new batch crawling around on the rear algae-covered wall of my tank. I'm getting a little worried now. My tank was overstocked to begin with, now the number of inhabitants are at: 10g - 8 Cardinal tetras, 16 Amano shrimps, 3 Bronze cories, 1 Otocinclus, 5 Adult Cherries (had 6 but squished one while planting), and 2 or 3 dozen baby & sub-adult Cherries.

Hey John I bought 10 Cherries at Strickly Fish. It's a very nice store just like you said, although I don't think any of the people that waited on you were there as I mentioned your name. They said the "freshwater guys" were not there today. The shrimp are doing fine as they get used to the tank, but I don't think I have any egg-laden females... although I think I have at least 1 female (yellow behind the head). We'll see what develops.

Is that what that means? I have several shrimp showing a yellow "saddle" shape behind the head. Soon to be egg-laden??

Cool. Thanks John. I've read the articles at petshrimp, but I'd never checked out the information on the forums before. Some good info there!
