Ok, first off, you would think that as big as Savannah, Georgia is, that there would be more than 4 places to buy fish.
My choices are: A.) Petsmart (same old fish , never anything different) B.) Pet Lovers (Terrible tanks, would never buy from) C.) The Exotic place (Wonderful specimens of saltwater but sucky freshwater) D.) Neighborhood LFS (Super jacked up prices) So with all that said, my options are very limited. I am really interested in Killifish, but when you mention them around here, you see a large question mark form over people's heads. So as much as I would hate to order online, for various reasons ($40 ship) I may have too. So if anyone knows of a good place to look, I would like to hear about it. I am also interested in hearing anyone's experience with these fish. Thanks Kelly

I too want to try killies and have run into the same exact problems you have - question marks over the heads of LFS personnel, and exorbitant shipping fees for online ordering.
From the research I've done, the best way to get killies locally is find a local killie club. You'd be surprised, there is probably one closer than you think. I found one just under two hours away, which is not unreasonable for me since I want to make sure I get some good stock. Search the internet, you'll find one!

I'm going to a killi club meeting this Saturday. The thing about Killis is, if you're willing to try hatching them yourself, you can mail-order the eggs for not much different than shipping plants.
And I agree, the best way to get killis is through a club. Many varieties never make it into the stores, and when they do, unless the store is very good, the may be weak. BTW, your plants would love living in a killi tank. The temps are lower for the fish and plants should thrive! Just make sure you have good covers, they jump. Stacey
