I thought about rainbows too. I might cheat and get a rainbow. thanks.
Irian rainbows (Glossolepis Incisus-this is the true Irian red rainbow, but sometimes other species are sold as 'irian') are Asian, as are Bosemani, Praecox, and Turquoise rainbows. All are medium/large species and fairly easy to find. All come from the islands off southeast Asia, around New Guinea.

Well, when I was in school, New Guinea and Malaysia and the surrounding islands were still considered part of the continent of Asia. =)

HEh, a friend of mine were talking about how weird the term 'Oceania' was over the weekend. It sounds like a mythical made up place.

Speaking of which, I was away over the weekend. I just came back and found one barb dead. Like all barbs, they can be very vicious toward the injured. I guess one wasn't doing so well and it got attacked to death.

Well, I just watched the last barb die. $80 down the tubes. sux.
It's got to be something really infectious. Symptoms are ragged fins, white patches, and ulcers under the skin. Symptoms showed up over night. Before they die, they went into spastic shock for a few minutes.

Good thing these guys were in quarantine

Sorry to hear that mistergreen. Can't you get a refund? I'd be pissed if they died after 2 days. They sold you sick fish!!

They seemed relatively healthy when I got them. They were literally off the truck from the exporter when I got them. I don't think they have the petsmart return policy. The owner would have mentioned it.

That's tough M.G. Is the tank in good order? Could be flavobacterium columnare. Be sure to sterilize everything!

That sucks!

Are you going to try them again, or go for something else next time?
