Orlando - Can you take pictures of your female/s? i know there's lots of it online but wanted to see the one you have. I have bought 2 groups that "supposedly" consist of 2 female and 10 males (group consist of 1 female 5 males) on Aquafest 09 but they have colored up and have the stripes.

Thank you in advance!

-Brian

Congrats on the baby! It's so exciting to find a baby in your tank. I think "Trooper" is very appropriate!

Got some last Saturday and they're doing GREAT!

Carole - congrats! Could you please take a pic for us? The pics online of female Scarlet Badis are extremely questionable so it'd be nice to have a confirmed one.

Also, if you can remember, I know you said you couldn't remember where the Badis you have come from but do you know if it was an LFS or online (and if online which suppliers do you use? InvertzFactory?)? Thanks!

Congrats! I just got a group of 6 from Invertz Factory last week. I suspect at least one female; the red striping is visible, however the body is not as pink as the others. This one is also more plump. I've had Scarlet Badis before, and was given a pair by a friend; I do not think females are as "dull" as they are said to be.

The first picture is what I suspect to be a female; the second, a male. I'm not 100% sure, but let me know what you guys think. (sorry for hijacking!)

Thanks for the pics! That's interesting, the difference is more subtle than I thought it would be. Most references I've seen have the females as very dull and with insignificant striping. This was very helpful.

Thanks again, and especially glad they're from Inverts since that's where I wanted to order them.

Still hoping to see some of Carole's females so we can have another reference

invert1 - no problem on the pics, I snapped them up quickly after I saw this thread. Yeah, when I first started on these Darios, I was looking for basically all gray fish as being females, but I'm not exactly positive on the sexes yet either, more pics would be helpful.

So thus Invertz Factory guarantee for at lease 1 female for a group of 6? wanted to do an order to them as well as I have all males 12 of them no luck with females.

suebe333 - thanks for the clarification, now we know females have some red in them Yeah, my males aren't very big yet, I think they will color up more once they are more mature. Or it could be tank/light/etc. not reflecting the best out of them.

bgssamson (Brian) - I think they will "try" to give both males and females, but there's no guarantee. It's a luck of the draw, I asked them about sexing. 12 males...?! They would look awesome together, though your intentions are to breed...hope you find some females, if mine ever breed, I'll let everyone know.

Yeh 12 males but just for the record I did not get mine from Invertz but from other vendor. I am still working with them to get a female even at lease one.

Thanks for the pictures and wish you all the luck on breeding them so that you can spread your female/s out in the hobby.

Actually this may be interesting to you. This guy thought he had two males when in fact one of them was actually a female.

I just ordered 7 Scarlet Dario from the Invertz Factory. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping at the very least one will be a female. Its going to be a species only tank so it should be interesting.

What is your tank setup like and your water parameters? I'm curious if they prefer softer, more acidic water.

waterfaller1, any updates on the baby dario?

dxiong5, I don't want to crap this thread so my parameters can be seen here.
