Sudden Fish death - sensitive to iodine?
I have a 26 gallon planted tank. Two days ago I added 2 drops of Kent Iodine in the water thinking that it would benefit the shrimps that i have in there. This morning I noticed that one of my furcata rainbowfish and my Checkerboard cichlid are dead! I regularly do a 50% water change every week. The only thing different that I have done was add the Iodine. Could that be the cause of death?
I still have: 6 furcata rainbowfish 1 signifer rainbowfish 1 albino bristlenose 3 licorice gourami 6 otto 1 SAE 1 balloon molly 5 amano shrimps 1 Indian Pearl Shrimp THanks in advance! |

Don't know what to tell you, bingo. I add 1/2 tsp of kent iodine to my tank each month. I've haven't lost a fish since a started dosing a few months ago. I don't have any of the fish you mentioned that perished. But I do have cardinals, rams, and a discus. Not exactly the 'hardiest' of fishes.
