Little Worms

Hello fellow aquarists I have little white worms crawling all over my class, they are slithering around. Probably hundereds of them, and it also looks like they are floating around in the water column is this a parasite of some sort?

Any ideas would help.

Yep. A picture would totally help, but I'm thinking the same thing. They're considered harmless, but very unsightly in my opinion and I'm pretty certain I'm not the only one.

They're due to overfeeding and gunk buildup in your substrate. Do a gravel vac with a python, reduce feeding, and keep up with the water changes. They also don't like flow so if you can somehow get some into your substrate, that'll help you ward them off a bit. Do a gravel vac for awhile and if you don't mind, you can even boil your substrate if it worsens. Remember to clean your filter media as they sometimes hang around there.

The most important part is in bold, the rest is optional if things get worse.

Bah, was hoping it was shrimp babies or something of that nature, I don't feed very often at all, maybe once a day and just flakes. I want them dead, pythoning the substrate is dangerous, I have alot of baby RCS, I'm not very excited to do this. I can do a very big water change that should kill most of them.

Ryan this should help. I've had these bugs too, only in my tank with gravel in it. The tanks I have with flourite and AS have no issues. Not sure if they're related or not. I had some white clouds that bred though and the babies devour the worms as fast as they grow. I don't think they're harmful though. Good luck, hope it helps.
