wow they are SKINNY, and PALE. poor guys. feed well, with plenty of live and frozen foods. they look pretty colorful when they adjust and are happy. why are they in a breeder box? im sure they would preffer to swim (unless there is something big that could eat them).

yee they are skinny. So far ive been feeding them golden pearls and a tiny amount of a sinking pellet, they seem to go crazy for both. Hopefully within a week they will get those nice and big healthy bellies. They do seem somewhat pale when i just added them to the box but within a few hours they got their colors back and got even more color when i added frogbit to the top to block out the light.
The reason why im keeping them in the breeder box at the moment is because i redid my 10g tank yesterday and after turning up the sms substrate it got pretty cloudy. Will give it another few days to settle down/maybe up the filtration and then move them there to have the whole tank to themselves. I would set them free in the 29g the breeder box is in right now but im not too sure how my bolivian rams would respond to something so tiny. |

I got some boraras merah from Frank and they did arrive pretty skinny. But after about 1-2 weeks almost all of them fattened up (except for 1 that is still skinny). 1 actually had a fungus growth on the side of him and I tried everything from melafix, pimafix, and aquarium salt and for weeks he still had the fungus. He would still eat though, and then one day he no longer had the fungus.
For food, I feed them Hikari Micro Pellets and they seem to like it. They don't seem to like spirulina. They also won't eat my seed shrimp (ostracods). When they do put them in their mouth, which is rare, they will just spit them back out. I once tried feeding them a live tubifex worm and they had no interest, and the worm just fell to the substrate and burrowed in before I could catch it. I have no idea where it is now |
