Dario Dario Scarlet Badis!

Took some pics of my Dario Dario and just thought I'd share:

and my personal favorite...

They live in a species 29g planted tank and I believe I have 4 males and 6-7 females whom all get along great so far lol I'm currently trying to get them to spawn but they may be too young still. Only time will tell! *crosses fingers*

Share your pics too, I'd like to see em =)

Great shots!

I've been considering getting some of these guys, and I have a couple of questions for you.

First, where did you get yours? Seems like most places have none at all or only males. I would prefer to get both sexes.

Second, have you found them to be difficult to feed? I've heard/read they can be very finicky little eaters. What do you feed yours?

I actually got most of mine from a member on here "xcooperx". He has a store called Fish Etc. and is pretty local to me, however they also ship fish, which can be ordered at there website: http://www.fish-etc.com/ They are really nice people and saved me females from 2 of their previous shipments. He currently only has males in stock, but if you PM him, he may be able to help you out in the future. I'd suggest to get some males to start out with and see how everything works out as females tend to be more sensitive.
As far as feeding, they are definitely on the picky side. I feed mine frozen Bloodworm's, Brine Shrimp, and freeze dried Tubifex. They also have since took to eating flakes occasionally, but they don't prefer it. They have a lot of personality for being so small, mostly hunting within the plants and staying towards the bottom of the tank.

Let me know if you have anymore questions and Ill do my best to answer them. Theres a few members here who own these fish as well that are I'm sure more experienced than me, and can chime in with their experiences too!

Thanks, Jay! That diet is definitely do-able for me. I keep those foods on hand as it is, so nothing odd. Thanks, too, for the suggestion re: getting males first. VERY good to know. I'd hate to get both sexes right off the bat and kill the girls.

xcooperx, you can expect to hear from me in the next few weeks.

I really would like a pair of that fish. I think they are awesome. Good luck with your pair. If you happen to have a successful spawning I would be interested in a pair. That is if I can’t get a pair from xcooperx or elsewhere beforehand.
