A first for me – a fish baby!

Hi Kids!

I was feeding the fish in my 55 last night, and noticed what I thought was a stray piece of fish food. But no! It was a little baby Pineapple Swordtail, maybe 3/8" long. I am hoping the little guy does not become a morsel, and that he is in fact a guy!

I was not trying to breed them, but I am very excited that one little guy was sneaky enough to make it this long.

My wife wasn't suitably impressed, so (hopefully!) that is where you come in. LOL Thanks for listening!

Dave

Congrats!! I had the same thing happen with some Furcata rainbows.

It's a nice feeling to have when your tanks are healthy enough to promote breeding.

That is cool! Pieapple swords and lyretail swords were a favorite for me growing up. Good luck..I hope 'he' makes it to adulthood.

Congrats! For me it was a black mollie that produced her first brood in my tanks. That started a 50 year quest to breed every fish known to be kept in aquaria. Still working on it. :-).

Thanks everyone! So far my little "Orange Flash" is still evading being lunch.
