X-rays are much better. I tried the red phantoms in temp higher than 80 degrees but they went very pale and sluggish. I decided to move them over to another tank where temp is lower at 74-76 degrees. Far more active.

I have X-rays right now in my 10 gal... They don't school per say, but rather stay crowded together when at rest.

I have a few X-Rays in my 55. They aren't the best schoolers but they are very interesting to watch. They swim together in a loose school through the plants at all levels of the aquarium. My tank is 80-82 degrees and I'm sure it fluctuated a little on a few hot days. They showed no signs of stress and in general seem very hardy. I only have a few, so I assume they would school better when kept in larger numbers. They tend to chase each other around which is close enough to schooling for me. I have several large angels in the tank, you would think that they would encourage my tetras to school but nope. They tetras swim freely all around the angels.
