Feeding Schedule

I myself feed all my tanks every two days. I've heard that it is better to feed them small amounts several times a day but I have 12 hour work days with transit time so that isn't realistic. I can however give them three feedings on the weekend if that is preferable.

I know fish end up getting several small meals randomly in the wild and it is all of goal to imitate their natural environment as much as possible. I also know that the more you feed the more they excrete causing a higher demand for water changes and over all maintenance.

What is your schedule and also your opinion on feeding schedules? I say schedule and opinions because the two don't always coincide based due to our own schedules.

I skip a day or two each week. Don't usually plan them but I do intentionally not feed every single day. I try to feed a pretty large variety of foods as well, and so sometimes the topwater fish eat better than the mid, or bottom, sometimes the others get fed more...

Agreed.

I try to feed my fish about 5 times a week. I feed them a variety of frozen, live and flake/pellet food.

Unless your keeping fish like juvie discus, several feedings a day isn't nessecary. I feed my fish 5 days a week. I feed a quality flake, and a variety of frozen foods.

Same here, I rarely feed them more than once a day and often skip a day. If you keep them hungry they are more eager to eat what you give them and they will keep the tank cleaner by searching out all the missed food when you do feed them.
If you have fussy fish that won't eat certain foods keeping them hungry enough will help to make them eat anything you give them.
