Hi .. Just wanted to ask for some input on keeping a pair of Borellis dwarfs in a planted tank. This tank does have some Amano shrimp..would the Cichlids damage the shrimp??
The tank is a 50 gl (I think?) is 48" long, 12" deep, 18" high.
This is a relatively new tank .. about two months running. Right now it has lots of plants, 10 neon Tetra, 2 SAE, 10 Amano Shrimp.

I would like to add the pair of Dwarf Borellis, a Yoyo Loach, and a pair of Neon Blue Gourami.
Do you guys think this would be over stocked?? And what do you guys think about compatibility issues??

THanks!!

IMO I think the dwarfs would be ok with the shrimp... Though it is hard to say when we are talking Cichlids

However on your other fish, Two male gourami's will probably fight each other , and I assume you mean dwarf Neon blue gouramis and not blue regular sized, I suggest either one or none.... Also loaches like friends. I perfer to keep at least 3 together as they like to play around and are social....

I think if you would be ok on the stocking, a little tight.

I personally think there's plenty of room to accomodate all those fish, with good room to spare in case something else catches your fancy. I've kept borellii with Amano shrimp for the last few years, and there obviously are no problems there--even when the borellii are defending their brood. I agree that two male neon blue gourami often do not get along in close quarters (though I didn't see where it was mentioned that they were both male), but a 55G should provide ample room for housing multiple males of this species. One thing I would definitely do is add another SAE. IME, when keeping just a pair a dominant fish will eventually emerge and harass the other one to no end. In a group of three or more, such aggressive tendencies are considerably diffused to the point almost of nonexistence.
