My Fish Got the Ich!
I know there are a number of threads out there on Ich treatment, but I did not want to hijack someone else's.
I have a specific question regarding treatment using Rid Ich +. Assuming that I am reading the directions correctly, I am suppose to dose 5ml per 10 gallons of water every 24 hours until 3 days past the last sign of it? On a 75 gallon tank that amounts to approx. 30ml per day. Is that correct? No water changes in between? |

IMO using a hospital tank with ich is pointless; the parasites will be down in the substrate and coating the surfaces in the main tank so the fish will just be re-infected as soon as they are put back in, meanwhile the other fish in the tank are also being exposed...
I'd just follow the directions given as closely as possible. I've never personally used that product as I always treat ich with salt.

The easiest way to treat ich is to raise the temp up to about 82 or so, then add about 1/2tsp of aquarium salt per gallon of water. This should get rid of the ich completely, and it's a lot cheaper.
Even easier would be treatment in a small hospital tank, like owlavatar said.

If you have already started with the Rid-Ich, I would stay with it. I'm not a big fan of changing treatments once they have started, unless it proves to not work. Dave |
