Is the size their max size or their current? If it's max, i'd go for 2-3 more blues. Then again, your filtration matters too.
I've got 54 microrasboras in my 30 gallon with 3 otos and cherries. I almost have no need to dose nitrates.

Waterfaller,
Your stocking list looks like its right off FranksAquarium's Nano-Fish page. I would imagine that you could add a few more axelrodi's. There's not much to them, and I would imagine their bioload would be light. The majority of your fish probably stay toward the bottom of your tank, so a few more in the mid to upper level would probably be okay. Plus, we've seen your tanks (gorgeous) so I personally would trust your judgement if you think you can handle a few more. I have some questions for you, although I hate to stray from the question you asked above... Do the two forms of axelrodis school together? Which cory do you prefer, the pygmaes or the habrosus? Any luck getting either cory to breed? Are the haras worthwhile additions to your tank, or are they usually completely out of sight? I really appreciate your insight, as I'm getting ready to purchase a bunch of nanofish for my tank. |

Heheh.. Frank is my hero. All of the fish in the 10 except the habrosus, are from Frank.Yes, they are schooling..it's pretty sweet.
I really like both of the cory types, they are different. The pygmaeus are adorable, and have an irridescent orange stripe. They comb some of the higher plants for food. I love the hara jerdoni, and yes they are elusive. I might be different than some in that I enjoy a few fish that hide. It makes it fun when you do see them. I have a few caves made by artists, for them hidden here and there. Sometimes I can find them in the daytime, just perched on a leaf. I am also an incurable insomniac, I have my trusty mini led flashlight to go spying on them and feed them in the wee hours of the morning.. The thing I like about all of my fish, with the exception of an occasional frantic dash by a kuhli loach{they get freaky like that once in awhile} all of my fish seem comfortable. I think the upgrade to the 20 will make them even more so. I may hold off on any more fish for awhile. At least a few months until the new tank is established and go from there. Sometimes that last fish or two you feel you just have to have, are the ones that tip the scales of aggression and mess up the balance. I got some yellow Kubatai rasboras which I felt were not good nano candidates to spite their size. They were very pretty too. But I decided to give them to a friend with a much bigger tank. Their swimming habits were more like danios, lots of back and forth darting. That tells me a fish just needs more room. Or different tankmates. Thanks alot.

I'm about ready to order from Frank myself. I was going to go with 6 Boraras bridgittae for my 10 gallon, but I'm torn between them and the Boraras merah, which are less colorful but smaller. I definitely don't want them feeling cramped, and I know they like space despite their tiny size.
As for bottom dwellers, I've really been wanting one of the pygmy cory species, but I'm sure that they're rip up my HC carpet, which is barely hanging on. I'll stick to snails, shrimp, and my two otos. You make me want haras, though! My light fixture has a built-in moonlight, and I get such a kick out of watching my fish move around in the darkness when they don't think I'm there. Another question: Where does the badis fit into the scheme of your tank? Hiding in the background? Chasing the tetras around? They're really beautiful fish.... another thing to add to my wish list. |

Hi Frosty. I was researching the rasboras and found an article that said the merah can color up quite nice, given the proper conditions. The brigittae look nice. I considered both as well for awhile.I think you would enjoy the pygmy corydoras, and I don't think they would tear up your plants. They actually spend quite a bit of time swimming in the mid column. I think the haras are really cool. They have a very smug look, and a neat zig zag swimming pattern. If I didn't have shrimp I would have considered the little botia called sidthimunki. The badis...well...perhaps not the safest choice with shrimplets, but Frank assured me he is keeping them with shrimp. I fell in love with them as I had one in the finnex for a little while. I filled the tank too high after a wc and he jumped.
