Would 2 farrowellas be better than a whack load of otos. what would you get and why?

I would get ottos as I think that they are a 10 on both the cute scale and on the coolness scale.

I have both. I really like the ottos and had ~12 in a 75.

I'd get both for the character, but I have little to no algae now that the tank is running really smooth and am starting to worry about the ottos. They're not taking to the wafers; the farrowella has and are shedding weight fast.

fwiw, the ottos are so small, they can clean anywhere. Not so with the farrowella. He/she has trouble manuevering in my dense tank. Small SAE are quite good too and take to food when the tank is bare.

sounds like the otos are a winner. how many should i get for a 60g? maybe once i get the 70g set up i'll buy the farrowella too. don't know. Tommorow i'm getting rid of my albino poopostamus and will have money for a bunch of oto's so if i get my answer for the above quesion (how many should i get for a 60g?) i'll be on my way to the pet store.

For a 60G, I'd say maybe about 10-15, maybe more.

Farlos are awesome, but I think they need to be kept in a school for best results. And fed blanched veggies every once in a while.

And the "Albino Poopostomus" all I got to say is HA! I know what you mean lol.

That would depend on what else you keep in the tank. If you don't know your parameters, you should probably get a test kit.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't rely on algae eaters to do maintenance for you. Algae issues stem from nutrient imbalance, too much light, lack of CO2, etc. Algae eaters are just as likely to eat whatever food you feed the rest of the tank.

Well i am feeding to much so i'll cut down on that. i have 2 test kits for ammonia and nitrate but my dad can test nitrite because he's a chemist and has the equipment. i'll take the water in to a pet shop but i have inadequet filtering so i am getting that before the algae eaters. how does that sound?
