i've just bought a male crowntail Betta splendens [named Davy Jones], and have been putting it inside a 20 gal with 1 molly and 3 glass catfish, plus 9 corries (4 aeneus, 3 sterbai, 2 paleatus) and i dont think it's quit safe because the molly seemed to be curious about the betta. .. .
on the other hand, i'va also newly exchanged my blue yabby with 2 anubias nana petite, and bought 5 cardinals [only 0.5" now] and 5 Corydoras habrosus inside a 5 gallon cube. ..it seemed to be to hollow in there, so i was just thinking bout moving Davy to this tank. . .will Davy nip the cardinals ??? is it possible concerning the bioload ??? or should I add another 5 little cardinals ??? |

I've kept a few cardinals with a betta in a 5.5gal before, didn't have any problems, just changed 10% of the water weekly and everything was good for several years (was a tank at work so I took it down after I quit that job and we moved).
I'd say the 5gal sounds rather full ATM though; you could add the betta but will probably need to change more like 50% a week (2x 25% weekly would be better) b/c that would definitely be a high bioload. What kind of filter do you have on there? I wouldn't be surprised if the molly does decide to take nips out of the betta's fins in the other tank, though.

duckweed. it's bad, mmk.

You might have a problem the other way around; your cardinals could rip up your betta. Depends on the individual fish, I guess.

ahahahahha. . .. might cardinals took a nip on the betta ???
yeah. . .i think i'll move the C. habrosus [but they're only 0.5" too, should I ???] i've only got an aqua one mini HOB filter [about 100 gal per hour], but it seemed that the current is quite strong in the tank.. .should it be sufficient ??? because i was thinking about ordering another "aqua clear" HOB 150 [150 gal per hour], but it seemed that it will stir up my nano tank, hahahahah. . . |
