is this fine?

i have a big pleco (about 8") and it is starting to outgrow a cave that i have in my 75 gallon. he will be to big for it after he spends the summer in my pond. i want to replace the cave with a piece of driftwood. should i do this? should i do it before he goes on vacation to the pond or should i change it while he is gone? also i have a blue lobster and i was wondering what kind of a hiding place i should give him??

Thanks, BLUELOBSTER

IME fish will use whatever is the best available. If you want to go ahead and replace the cave now, you could try it. If you have room, leave the cave and add the driftwood? Since he's going to be moved soon, it probably doesn't really matter which way you go...

Anything big enough for the lobster will probably work. PVC pipe is commonly used, though not the prettiest thing around.

My 13"/14" pleco has a huge piece of driftwood to hide behind. He used to use the underside of a centerpiece rock until he outgrew it. Now he just lays behind the driftwood when he's sleeping and sits on top or peers out from behind it when he's feeling sociable.
