just use a cover to keep the air moist and warm. i used cellophane with a few holes in a room at 60F. i did not lose 1 fry during the developement of the layrinth.
fins dont grow in until 8 monthes. are you sure they were plakats? 300!? wow. i got lucky and had a small spawn of only 50 little tadpole like things. and my male was lucky too. he superglued them to the nest. i only saw one fall ever. and that was because he moved the nest and forgot one of his kids at the old nest. |

Fins can grow long before 8 mos; check out the ages and finnage of the bettas on AquaBid- most of those fish are 4-6 mos old and the finnage is fantastic already! The secret is great food and superclean water; most of those fish are either in constantly superfiltered breeder setups and/or get multiple 100% water changes daily.

yeah, a barracks system with a bunch of live food in great veriaty does that. but a bunch of fry in a 10 gallon given a WEEKLY (not daily) 100% water change, being fed frozen bbs grow much slower. plus the parents were petco, not HMs which sometimes have nicer females then petco males.
