Butterfly Pleco for Planted Tank?
An online aquaintance is selling his tank, staring with the fish. He is offering me a Butterfly Pleco.
Has anyone kept them in planted tank? I can't find much info online about keeping them with plants.

If by butterfly pleco you mean Borneo Sucker Fish/Hong Kong Pleco/, then it depends.
They just sort of stick to the glass all day and eat algae. They're bigger and more effective than ottos, and they don't swim around. Just sit there and nomnomnom on the glass. They do like fast moving water, however, so if you've got a decent powerhead or something in your tank it'd be perfect. edit: I hate common names. Gastromyzon borneensis is the one i'm talking about. bleh. |
